Last year I flew down to Salzburg in Austria for 16 Euros! No complaints there! Berlin is non-conformist and is, in fact, a haven for subcultures. It is known as one of the most liberal cities for minorities in all of Europe, making the city a target for migrants craving acceptance and freedom of expression. You really can be yourself in Berlin without fear of judgement, which is very liberating. A thriving expat community exists in Berlin, meaning that there are lots of others in a similar situation as you.

Some of your strongest friendships will be forged as an expat, as your expat circle quickly becomes almost like your family away from home. Being active is a natural part of your day when you live in Berlin. Achieving a healthy work-life balance is a high priority for us all in this day and age. What makes it a great city in your eyes? Unquestionably one of the coolest cities in the world, Berlin has a lot more to offer than just beer and bratwurst. Not convinced yet? In fact, because of its diverse population, the food on offer is actually very varied.

I may be somewhat biased, but there are few languages quite as charming as German.

As impressive as it is colorful, the many masterpieces of the streets make for a fantastic Insta snap. An undeniable draw of Berlin is its bike-friendly culture. However, the usual cycling-city stereotype an unreliable public transport system does not apply here; in typical German fashion, public transport is extremely efficient, meaning there are many ways to get around the city on the cheap.

German culture is famed around the world, with traditions like Oktoberfest being celebrated in cities across the globe. With its beer gardens, museums and art galleries, Berlin is more than capable of supplying tourists and locals alike with a steady dose of German culture.

For an everything-at-once experience, head to Kulturbrauerei which literally translates to culture brewery , a cultural complex consisting of over 20 buildings and featuring restaurants, shops, dance centers, museums and more.
