Lily tells Ted that Robin accidentally left the locket in his apartment, forgetting to take it with her to Japan, so Ted decides to give it to Robin as a wedding gift, but Lily cautions him against it.

It is revealed that the locket was not in the box and that it could be Los Angeles in Stella's storage unit. Ted gives Robin a photo of the whole group from 8 years ago as a wedding gift instead of her locket.

He later promises Lily that he won't do anything insane that weekend. It is revealed that four days ago that Ted bought a ticket to L. Ted also reveals that he still has feelings for Robin. Marshall Skypes with the two of them, and tells them to recreate the scenario while the two of them hold hands. Ted admits to Barney he does have feelings for Robin, and that he would never do anything to get in the middle of them. Barney forgives him over a poker game, which irritates William Zabka.

In a flash back to the fall of Platonish Ted is seen being flirty with Robin when they do their salute joke. Lily tells Ted that he and Robin are platonic. Barney comes in and says that Ted and Robin are not platonic. Later that night Marshall tells Ted that Robin is his girl. Ted and Marshall think how Ted could get Robin back.

It involves Ted stealing the locked up Blue French Horn by cutting the lock possibly foreshadowing the finale. Ted later tells Marshall that there is no rush with him and Robin and that it will happen when it will happen. At that moment Barney is writing "The Robin". In Sunrise , Ted tells Robin why he and Victoria broke up, he is moving to Chicago, and we learn that Stella didn't have the locket, Victoria did.

Victoria overnights it, but Jeanette intercepts it from Ted, and throws it off a bridge into a pond. That night, looking for Barney with Robin is when Ted lets go of Robin, during the Sunrise, making peace with her getting married to Barney. When her mother arrives she starts to realize Barney is like her father, who is now divorced to her mother, He mother tells her she has to be with the guy she can truly depend on.

Her mother asks if there is a guy she can truly depend on, and Robin says I do referring to Ted not Barney. In The End of the Aisle , Robin panics about her wedding foreshadowed in False Positive , in this state of panic she realizes that it was Ted who tracked down her locket it is revealed that Ted jumped of the bridge to retrieve the locket and, due to her stressed state, thinks it might be a sign she shouldn't marry Barney and that she should be marrying Ted.

Ted tells Robin that he doesn't want to hear that and she loves Barney and that he would never do that to him. In her panic she thinks about running away, first she thinks she should run away with Ted and move to Chicago with him but when he doesn't agree she decides to run away by herself but her fears are assuaged by Barney's vow to be honest with her and realises she still has loving feelings for Barney.

Robin can't say yes to coming to their wedding instead replying with a very hesitant "Duh! Later Tracy comes in to tell Ted the wedding must be called of as she is pregnant. Robin looks on with a gaunt expression, and isn't smiling unlike Barney when he tells her Tracy is getting a "boob job".

In , the gang is at Ted and Tracy's house, where Robin looks visibly awkward and uncomfortable. It is over ther where she and Barney reveal their divorce. Later that year Lily and Marshall throw a Halloween Party. Robin shows up but gets depressed when she sees Ted kiss the mother. As she leaves the party, Lily asks her why and she replies saying that she can't hang with the gang anymore because it includes her ex-husband hitting on women again, and the man she should have ended up with the beautiful mother of his child.

They hug and chat for a little. In an official deleted scene it's revealed that the next day the two met up for lunch where Robin admits to Ted that he was the one she should have ended up with.

Later that year in Ted's wedding day, Robin who said she wouldn't go to the wedding, shows up at the Bar, because Tracy convinced her. In after Ted finally finishes telling the kids the story of how he met their mother, they point out that their mom is barely in the story and the story is really about how Ted is in love with Aunt Robin and says their feelings for each other are incredibly obvious when she is with them!

They encourage Ted to ask her out on a date reiterating that their mother has been dead for six years. Ted, a romantic, shows up at her apartment with the Blue French Horn like in the Pilot Episode, she smiles, goes weak at the knees and cries, and the series ends. A deleted scene confirmed that Ted and Robin rekindled their romantic relationship, where Lily pays marshall their long-term bet about Ted and Robin ending up together.
