The week after its release, Tyler and Hodgy appeared on Jimmy Fallon , aided by a ski mask, a smoke machine, cadaverous girls dressed as escaped mental patients, and The Roots. A generational shift had occurred, opening up creative avenues that had temporarily been occluded, and re-introducing sonic and artistic inspirations like Dr. Seuss, Thrasher, and Salvador Dali. But Odd Future completely ransacked the blueprint and turned it tie-die. Odd Future expanded that model so that kids grasped it as a revolutionary movement.
They revitalised Supreme as a brand, inspired a million kids to wear psychedelic colour schemes and exponentially increased the popularity of skateboarding and cat ownership.
Their crew even had its own in-house photographer, a tiny detail, but one that helped inspire young rappers to think of their music as being bigger than hip-hop.
The influence is ubiquitous, from their aesthetic see the cover of good kid, m. Before his performance, Tyler brought the protesters red-velvet cupcakes. That same year, Big Day Out dropped them from the bill for homophobic and misogynistic lyrics. Even as Tyler distanced himself from the often-galling lyrics that he wrote as a teenager, the conflicts continued to hound him.
In , the United Kingdom banned him from entering for three to five years, citing bars he wrote in That same year, OF cancelled an Australian jaunt due to public pressure from the feminist group Collective Shout.
The negative attention that constantly shrouded them overlooked the actual truth. For all the attention-seeking, button-pushing lyrics, Odd Future prominently featured Syd, an openly gay artist, as one of their core members. This honesty and openness about the fluidity and realities of sexuality helped eradicate decades of entrenched homophobia in hip-hop. Frank Ocean is perhaps the most adored and critically acclaimed songwriter of his generation, shattering boundaries of genre and lyrical convention.

Tyler performed both old and new songs, mostly his upbeat hits and in between songs he'd converse with the crowd in his own down to earth way. Tyler is an amazing performer, he knows when the crowd gets too hot and needs a break or when we need a little bit more jumping to liven up the mood. The concert was intimate despite it being sold out because of Tylers genuine and unique personality and he almost makes it sound like he's speaking to a bunch of friends rather than a bunch of sweaty fans.
The concert lasted for about an hour and a half. I was front row on the ground and it was wild at times and very crowded, so if that's something you do not like; go to the balconies instead the people I was with chose to do that and says it is more calm because with an audience mostly consisting of semi-drunk teenage boys, it is bound to go a bit crazy at times.
But as I mentioned, Tyler and the two other boys were very aware of how we as an audience were feeling and you felt safe. To sum it up, it was a very intimate and very much how you would expect it to be, if you have followed Tyler as a fan for a while concert and definitely in my top best concerts ever. To be quite honest, I am not the most hardcore fan of Yellowcard and I only know a few of their earlier songs. Regardless of that, however, I actually had quite a lot of fun at their gig at Fuji Rock Festival last summer.
I think their strong fan base all over the world and how they can really rally up a crowd is one aspect that makes this band so fun to watch live. The fans really get wild and stay wild for the entire concert as soon as the band walks on the stage.
The crowd just crowd surf each other and go absolutely nuts and it's an entertaining sight! The bands music is extremely loud and you can hear it throughout the entire venue and I feel that Yellowcard represents a lot of what rock is about nowadays. It's about making music that allows for everybody Iistening to come together and enjoy the music and the festival vibe and I think Yellowcard did a good job of that in my opinion despite not knowing much about them!
Yellowcard is definitely a great concert for those who want to go apeshit with the influence of rock! Tyler did it pretty good on stage.
Sometimes he had to take a break because his astma. But Taco and Jasper continued the song if that happened. Me and my friend visited the movie he organised in the afternoon so we got priority for the show.
This was good because it wasn't that busy at the merchandise store. When the other people came in, I'm sure I couldn't get the Cherry Bomb 6 panel. After the show they sold out. Because the delay of the show we missed our last train so we spend our night at the station. Maybe thats a tip for the next time. Do the show a bit earlier! Amazing experience Taco was an amazing DJ doing a great job of hyping the crowd up.
Then Vince came out and killed it just a great set. The stage design was so cool with a huge tree for Tyler to stand on. Tyler really cares about his fans he sang happy birthday to this one dude which was so sick. The show was sold out so 2, people were all singing the words to his songs which was just amazing the best concert experience I have ever had I have to go see him live again.
Okay, so straight up, the venue kinda sucked. Tyler was playing The Forum, in London. The venue itself was pretty decent, big floor space and actually a decent amount of room. The security were pretty cool too. Only problem is, before Tyler goes on, they turn off the fans keeping the place cool, so for the next two hours, it is boiling, like people are walking around soaked in sweat. The videos on Youtube and junk do him no justice, he was awesome.
Taco came on and DJ'd to get everyone hyped which was awesome. Tyler was talking to the crowd and it was wild. He played all his decent songs, playing stuff from all three albums, and everyone fucking loved it. Wish he had played Sandwitches though. I can honestly say that Tyler fans are the most energetic fans I've ever seen, me included haha.
I've never been in a mosh pit that was this crazy before, and I loved every second of it. You will not regret going to see Tyler because he is just that awesome. This was my first time seeing him in concert and I was super happy at how approachable and funny he was. He knows how to work the crowd and how to get literally every last person on their feet and stomping the roof off of the building.
I loved every min of his performance.. I loved and appreciated the re-verb of ''tell these black kids they can be who they are'' means so much to us. And I know this isn't his favorite album and It didn't come out as this ''star studded'' album. But there's no one couldn't have said it better than Tyler at this time.
So I want to thank him for that.
